Stage structures are the framework that holds a show up: truss and towers, roofs and canopies, decking and rostra, hanging points, chain hoists and the rigging components that carry lighting, sound and scenery above the stage. Structural technology for stages and live shows
A stage structure is calculated before it is built. Aluminium truss — box, triangular, of varying section — is combined into goalposts, grids and towers according to the span to be crossed and the load to be flown: fixtures, loudspeakers, screens and scenery add up to a weight the design distributes between hanging points and supports. Modularity is what allows the same inventory to be reused in venues that bear no resemblance to one another.
Safety governs everything else: working load factors, certified hardware, verified hoists and slings, wind monitoring on outdoor roofs, and a rigging and de-rigging plan with tight schedules. The structure is also the physical support for every other discipline — the lighting and the sound system hang from it — so its design is signed off in coordination with the overall truss structure and with the event setup.
