LIGHTING

Event Lighting

Event lighting is the set of technical resources that gives visual form to a temporary production: a conference, a concert, a festival, a product launch or a gala. This Instalia section brings together news from that territory: lanterns and fixtures, moving heads, LED battens and panels, consoles and control protocols, and the projects of the companies lighting events in Spain and Europe. It is distinct from Professional Lighting, the general hub for the field, and from Stage Lighting, which focuses on what happens on stage: here the focus is the event as a whole, with its space, its rig and its schedule.

The sections every rig intersects with: the general hub for the field, its stage application, and the equipment that makes it possible.

The field’s hub: news, companies and lighting technology across every use.

The stage application: lighting design for concerts, theatre and live performance.

The equipment piece by piece: fixtures, consoles, stands and accessories.

Lighting technology for professional events

Every event starts from a borrowed space — a hall, a function room, a square, a marquee — and from a short schedule, and that shapes the design. The lighting plot is conceived to rig and de-rig quickly, with limited hanging points, capped power draw and fixtures that survive being moved. Profiles and washes handle general lighting and the colour of surfaces; moving heads bring movement and effect; LED battens and panels colour structures, backdrops and architecture.

Control is what turns that hardware into a staging. Consoles govern the whole rig over DMX or over network — Art-Net, sACN — and store the show, synchronised with the sound, the video and the production’s running order. Outdoors, IP protection and the weather forecast are added; indoors, coexisting with ambient light and with cameras. It is the same technology as in stage lighting, applied to the event as a whole rather than only to the stage, with whatever lighting equipment each rig demands.
