Technical training for working with professional sound
Learning sound means learning to listen and to measure. The live side starts with the signal chain — microphones, preamps, console, processing and amplification — and continues with how the system behaves in the room: time alignment, coverage, gain before feedback, and the measurement tools that let you verify it rather than assume it. Studio training takes a different route: capture, editing, mixing, and the dynamics and equalisation decisions that give a track its shape.
The second half of the trade is context. A technician works with plans, with get-in times, with digital audio networks and with noise and safety regulations, and does so as part of a team. The tools change — consoles, measurement platforms, wireless systems and their frequency management — but critical listening endures.
